Although knowledge in this area is growing in western contexts, there is little published data from the Arabic speaking world. This project addresses this gap by exploring academic middle leaders\u2019 experiences of leadership development in Qatar.<\/p>\n<p>Data were collected using an exploratory, sequential mixed methods design. In stage one we undertook 17 semi-structured interviews with a range of middle leaders in a selected \u00a0case study university. Stage two involved a Q methodology study with thirty-five male and female middle leaders, which aimed to examine their perspectives on the conditions influencing leadership development. The concourse statements used were developed from the findings from stage 1.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Who is running the project?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The project was run by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reading.ac.uk\/education\/staff\/alan-floyd\">Professor Alan Floyd<\/a> at the University of Reading in collaboration with colleagues from Qatar University \u2013 Dr Saba Mansoor Qadhi, Dr Hessa Al-Thani, Dr Youmen Chaaban, and Dr Xiangyun Du.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Who is funding the project?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The project was funded by the Qatar National Research Fund.<\/p>\n<div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\">\n<div class=\"vc_column-inner\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<p><strong>Project Timeline: April 2021 \u2013 April 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3><strong>Find out more<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>A key outcome of this study was the development of a conceptual model to help understand experiences of academic leadership development in Qatar.
