Funded by the DfT through a competition call led by ADEPT (Association of Directors for Environment Planning and Transport) and match funded by project partner Telefonica\/O2. This project is developing and demonstrating technologies that promote innovation in the highway sector to address real challenges facing local authorities. Local trials are addressing: potholes & road surface quality, air quality & public exposure, traffic flow & congestion, renewable energy & EV charging optimisation<\/strong> and public health risk mapping.<\/p>\n

Within the energy theme, UoR are supporting trials of energy management solutions being implemented at local authority pilot sites. Pilot sites are seeking to manage assets including solar PV generation and Electric Vehicle chargers, striving to deliver benefits in terms of carbon reduction, cost reduction and power grid support. UoR are using analytical and modelling approaches to assess and report on the potential to scale-up the trial solutions to a regional and national scale.<\/p>\n
