FoodBioSystems DTP has been been training doctoral researchers since 2020, in projects spanning topics across the food chain, from farm to fork. Our first cohort of alumni<\/a> completed their PhD studentships in autumn 2024.<\/p>\n

We have 108 doctoral researchers based at six partner universities: Aberystwyth University<\/a>, Brunel University<\/a>, Cranfield University<\/a>, Queen’s University Belfast<\/a>, University of Reading<\/a> and University of Surrey<\/a>. 47 of the projects are supported by non-academic partners. From Autumn 2025, University of Lincoln will join our consortium.<\/p>\n

FoodBioSystems is led by the University of Reading in partnership with the other universities , and with associate partners EIT Food, the British Nutrition Foundation, the Science and Technology Facilities Council Food Network+, and Diamond Light Source. Our doctoral researchers have an unparalleled opportunity to work in state-of-the-art laboratories and receive world-leading training, from pre-farm research into the fundamental biology of animals and crops, through integrated research across food production, storage and manufacturing, to post-fork research into fundamental biology of human nutrition, gut microbiome as well as health and well-being.<\/p>\n
