{"id":1064,"date":"2022-12-21T10:48:54","date_gmt":"2022-12-21T10:48:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/global-development\/?p=1064"},"modified":"2022-12-21T10:49:11","modified_gmt":"2022-12-21T10:49:11","slug":"call-for-papers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/global-development\/call-for-papers\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for papers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div class=\"--block-header-container \">\n<div class=\"--block --block-header grid-container --mobile-opt-position\">\n<div class=\"grid-x align-middle align-center\">\n<div class=\"cell small-12 medium-8 large-6 small-order-2 medium-order-1\">\n<div class=\"excerpt\">\n<h3>The DSA2023\u00a0<b>Call for Papers is now OPEN &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.devstud.org.uk\/conference\/conference-2023\/call-for-papers\/\">browse the panels and submit your paper!<\/a><\/b><\/h3>\n<h3>Rules<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">An individual cannot present more than one paper<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">It is permitted to be a non-presenting co-author on multiple papers<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Every person can have each conference role once: you can be a convenor to one panel, be a discussant once, a chair once and a presenter once<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">While everyone can technically propose several proposals, we do not encourage that, as it delays the conference timelines, as all multiples will have to be withdrawn.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"--block-text-container --nomargin\">\n<div class=\"grid-container\">\n<div class=\"grid-x --block --block-text align-middle align-center text-left\">\n<div class=\"class small-12 medium-6\">\n<div class=\"grid-x grid-margin-x grid-margin-y small-up-1 medium-up-1\">\n<div class=\"cell\">\n<h3>Proposing a paper to panels<\/h3>\n<p>All proposals must be made via the online form,\u00a0<b>not by email.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Paper proposals must consist of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">a paper title<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">the name\/s, email address\/es and organisational affiliations of author\/s<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">a short abstract of fewer than 300 characters<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">a long abstract of fewer than 250 words<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There is a \u2018propose a paper\u2019 link beneath the long abstract of each panel page. Go to the panel page you are interested in and then click on this proposal link to make your proposal directly to that panel.<\/p>\n<p>On submission of the proposal, the authors will receive an automated email confirming receipt. If you do not receive this email, please first check the \u2018Login\u2019 environment \u2013 Cocoa (see toolbar above right) to see if your proposal is there. If it is, it simply means your confirmation email got spammed\/lost; if it is not, you will need to re-submit, as for some reason the process was not completed.<\/p>\n<p>Co-authors cannot be added\/removed nor can papers be withdrawn by the proposers themselves \u2013 for that, please email\u00a0conference@devstud.org.uk.<\/p>\n<p>Proposals will be marked as pending until the end of the Call for Papers (10 Feb 2023). Convenors will then be asked to make their decisions over the papers proposed to their panel by 14 March 2023 and to communicate those to the proposers, marking them up in the login environment (Cocoa).<\/p>\n<h3>Transfer process<\/h3>\n<p>Papers which are neither accepted nor rejected, but marked for \u2018transfer\u2019, will be given the opportunity to be re-housed into other panels. The conference organisers will contact the authors of the proposals set to transfer and ask them to modify their abstracts to fit another panel of their choosing. We will advise them to target panels containing fewer than the allowed maximum (4 papers per session), which are thus able to include a few more.<\/p>\n<p>The authors will then inform us of two panels they would like to apply to (in order of preference). We then forward the title, short and long abstracts to the convenors and ask them to consider the proposal. If the first panel rejects the proposal, we contact the second choice. Transfers which get rejected by both panels will then be set to \u2018rejected\u2019.<\/p>\n<h3>Workshops<\/h3>\n<p>Note the workshops in the session list. It is possible to submit a proposal for a contribution to a workshop by filling out the online form with\u00a0<b>Title\u00a0<\/b>(few words about the key message you would like to deliver);\u00a0<b>Contribution\u00a0<\/b>(what you would like to bring to the workshop? please keep it to a few clear bullet points);\u00a0<b>Why\u00a0<\/b>(why would you like to speak in the workshop?). Please read carefully the format of the workshop before submitting a proposal.<\/p>\n<p>Please be aware that a proposal is only needed if you want to be an official named speaker.
