On the 20th of January,\u00a0 the Landscape Decisions<\/a>\u2019 researchers published a report entitled : \u201cMaking Landscape Decisions to Meet Net Zero Carbon: Pathways that consider ethics, socio-ecological diversity, and landscape functions.\u201d\u00a0 The research was conducted by a multidisciplinary team, including division member Dr. Eirini Saratsi<\/a> who leads the AALERT project.<\/p>\n

The report, which focuses on three landscapes types\u00a0 (agricultural, peatland, and forest) offers key recommendations to address some of the contradictions of the current net zero carbon strategy,.<\/p>\n

In particular, it highlights the need to ensure the right ecosystem is promoted in the right place, with no single land-use solution prioritised above others. Moreover, the research supports an increase in local and devolved decision-making capabilities as well as further investment in transdisciplinary approaches for landscape management .<\/p>\n
