George Levine, Emeritus Professor of English at Rutgers University, will be coming to speak at Reading next Wednesday (30th April) at 2 p.m. in the Harborne Lecture Theatre on ‘Science and Religion from Herschel to Gould’. Professor Levine is one of the world’s most eminent scholars of the relationship between literature and science. His books include\u00a0Darwin and\u00a0the Novelists: Patterns of Science in Victorian Fiction\u00a0<\/i>(1988),\u00a0Dying to Know: Scientific Epistemology and Narrative in Victorian England<\/i>\u00a0(2002),Darwin Loves You: Natural Selection and\u00a0the Re-enchantment of\u00a0the World\u00a0<\/i>(2006),\u00a0Realism, Ethics and Secularism: Essays on Victorian Literature and Science\u00a0<\/i>(2008) and\u00a0Darwin the Writer\u00a0<\/i>(2011), as well as several edited books on science and literature.\u00a0Please do join us for his\u00a0<\/span>rich and stimulating talk.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
