The Herbarium (RNG) is a research and teaching facility, containing around 400,000 specimens of flowering plants, conifers, cycads, ferns, lycophytes and non-vascular plants.\"Geranium\"<\/p>\n

Founded in 1897, Herbarium\u00a0RNG<\/strong> incorporates\u00a0RU <\/strong>(Department of Agricultural Botany, University of Reading),\u00a0SPN <\/strong>(Previously the University of Southampton Herbarium) and\u00a0WRO<\/strong>\u00a0(Weed herbarium of the Long Ashton Research Station, Bristol).<\/p>\n

Herbarium\u00a0RNG<\/strong> receives visitors and requests for identification help from all over the world and houses extensive collections of plants, especially\u00a0from Europe, the Mediterranean, temperate South America and the UK.<\/p>\n

The herbarium is used to teach a range of undergraduate modules as well as to support the\u00a0MSc in Plant Diversity<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0MSc in Species Identification and Survey Skills<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The herbarium remains active in acquisitions and the Herbarium exchange programme.\u00a0 We are a\u00a0CITES registered<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0organisation (GB 016) and a member of the International Plant Exchange Network (IPEN<\/a><\/strong> code RNG).<\/p>\n
