Day 6 #AdventBotany<\/a> – staying in the Burseraceae, Commiphora myrrah<\/em> or Myrrh is an anti-inflammatory, flavouring and scent but over use can lead to side effects including rashes and nausea.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Used in ancient Egyptian embalming of mummies. Now used to keep skin looking young.\u00a0 Myrrh is often used in the form of a liquid extract rather than as a solid resin.
\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Myrrh was the third gift of the Magi to Christ.<\/p>\n

The Song of Solomon includes verses mentioning both Frankincense and Myrrh.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“Who is this coming up from the wilderness
\nLike palm-trees of smoke,
\nPerfumed with myrrh and frankincense,
\nFrom every powder of the merchant?
\nTill the day doth break forth,
\nAnd the shadows have fled away,
\nI will get me unto the mountain of myrrh,
\nAnd unto the hill of frankincense.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
