We are an enthusiastic team of analytical chemists, chemical biologists and physicists with a particular focus on the development of ionization techniques for mass spectrometry and their application for (bio)analytical problems.
As developers and users the ‘Cramer group’ has, for instance, demonstrated well the potential benefits of the liquid-AP-MALDI ionization technique for high-throughput mass spectrometry; the outcome of these studies were published in relevant scientific journals [for more have a look at: “Our publications”].
By combining the expertise of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of analytical chemists, clinicians and industrial partners and aligning our research strategy and goals with the S.M.A.R.T.E.R. values, we aim, within the context of this research project, to demonstrate the applicability of this technique for the detection of pathogens from human biofluids using a modified benchtop Q-Tof mass spectrometer in connection with the desire to reveal its great potential to fill an important niche in clinical diagnostic labs due to its versatility.
