{"id":6982,"date":"2018-09-20T12:29:23","date_gmt":"2018-09-20T11:29:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/ifnh\/?p=6982"},"modified":"2018-10-01T10:21:21","modified_gmt":"2018-10-01T09:21:21","slug":"university-of-reading-will-be-at-food-matter-live-this-november","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/ifnh\/2018\/09\/20\/university-of-reading-will-be-at-food-matter-live-this-november\/","title":{"rendered":"University of Reading will be at Food Matters Live this November"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6983\" src=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/ifnh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/Unorganized\/2b539955-ed34-4faf-9974-d995c6125cf9-300x296.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"197\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This year the University of Reading stand at Food Matters Live will showcase, among other things, three projects funded by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eitfood.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EIT Food.<\/a> <!--more-->The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eitfood.eu\/programmes\/surebic-sugar-reduced-biscuits-and-cakes-that-meet-consumer-sensory-naturalness-and-cost-expectations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SuReBiC<\/a> project looks to employ cutting-edge methods to reduce the sugar content in biscuits and cakes while still meeting consumer expectations for taste, flavour and texture.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eitfood.eu\/programmes\/trust-in-the-food-we-eat\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trust in Food: Understanding Food Supply Systems<\/a> is a free MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) running this Autumn, hosted by FutureLearn. This MOOC aims to improve consumer understanding of the regulations and safeguards surrounding food production, and gives those taking part a chance to have their own say on trust issues in the industry. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.futurelearn.com\/courses\/food-supply-systems\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sign up here and give it a go! <\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eitfood.eu\/programmes\/dont-be-a-food-waster\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Don\u2019t Be A Food Waster<\/a> project aims to investigate why food waste occurs in the home and examine the consumer perspective on food waste and identify solutions to solving the problem. The project will use this research and knowledge to develop a social awareness campaign, getting audiences to proudly declare \u2018I am not a food waster\u2019 with the ultimate goal of reducing food waste levels in the home.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foodmatterslive.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Food Matters Live<\/a> will take place at<strong> ExCel London from the 20-22<sup>nd<\/sup> of November<\/strong>. The exhibition brings together leading food, drink and nutrition industry professionals with a wide range of expertise under the same roof.
