{"id":8278,"date":"2020-07-24T11:22:09","date_gmt":"2020-07-24T10:22:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/ifnh\/?p=8278"},"modified":"2020-07-24T11:24:52","modified_gmt":"2020-07-24T10:24:52","slug":"post%e2%80%90brexit-policies-for-a-resilient-arable-farming-sector-in-england","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/ifnh\/2020\/07\/24\/post%e2%80%90brexit-policies-for-a-resilient-arable-farming-sector-in-england\/","title":{"rendered":"Post\u2010Brexit Policies for a Resilient Arable Farming Sector in England"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-8360 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/ifnh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/Unorganized\/David.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"642\" height=\"428\" srcset=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/ifnh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/Unorganized\/David.png 642w, https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/ifnh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/Unorganized\/David-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 642px) 100vw, 642px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dr David Rose, Elizabeth Creak Associate Professor of Agricultural Innovation and Extension at University of Reading, School of Agriculture, Policy and Development has contributed towards the paper entitled: <a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1111\/1746-692X.12255\" class=\"broken_link\">\u2018Post-Brexit policies for a resilient arable farming sector in England\u2019<\/a> which has been published in the EuroChoices Journal.<\/p>\n<p>Led by the Countryside and Community Research Institute (CCRI) at the University of Gloucestershire, the paper evaluates the impact that current policies and regulations and future post-Brexit policy scenarios might have on the resilience of the English arable sector.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Dr David Rose is also involved in the development of a new model for co-designing the new post-Brexit Environmental Land Management system in collaboration with Defra highlighting \u00a0the importance of engaging audiences beyond the usual suspects to develop the best possible scheme.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Rose said:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';color: #434241;letter-spacing: .05pt;background: white\">\u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';color: #434241;letter-spacing: .05pt;background: white\">As the UK leaves the EU, the Common Agricultural Policy will no longer apply and new agri-environment schemes will reward land managers for the provision of various public goods \u2013 including cleaner air and water, flood protection, enhanced biodiversity, mitigation of climate change, and public access to nature and cultural heritage.
