INFORM hosted an online event on 19th March 2025, with 93 participants in attendance.

The event was divided into two sessions.  The first session featured Gemma Walton, who provided an update on the progress of the Hubs, shared information about successfully funded project applications, and highlighted current funding opportunities.

The second part of the event saw participants engage in breakout discussions of their choice on pre-defined themed topics:

  • Mental Well-being: Facilitated by Professor Glenn Gibson, University of Reading, focusing on the connection between gut health and mental well-being, emphasising the need for clear messaging and consumer education.
  • Infection Recovery: Facilitated by Professor Kieran Tuohy, University of Leeds, discussing the impact of long COVID and the importance of dietary interventions in supporting recovery.
  • Exercise and Recovery: Facilitated by Dr Neil Williams, Nottingham Trent University, addressing the need for research on dietary biotics for female athletes and recreational exercisers, emphasising the importance of convenience in adherence to products.
  • Managing Menopause: Facilitated by Dr Andrea Monteagudo-Mera, University of Reading,  exploring the specific needs of women experiencing menopause, the importance of targeted solutions, and the role of microbiota in managing symptoms.

A diverse range of participants in each group engaged in excellent discussions, generating numerous ideas that INFORM can take forward.
