{"id":1264,"date":"2025-04-02T21:24:58","date_gmt":"2025-04-02T20:24:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/inform-innovation-hub\/?page_id=1264"},"modified":"2025-04-04T12:15:06","modified_gmt":"2025-04-04T11:15:06","slug":"ecr-comms-workshop","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/inform-innovation-hub\/ecr-comms-workshop\/","title":{"rendered":"ECR Communication Skills Workshop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><b>Tuesday 20th &amp; Wednesday 21st May 2025<\/b><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><b>ECR Communication Skills Development Workshop<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>INFORM will be hosting a two-day residential Early Career Researchers (ECR) Personal Development Workshop which will focus on Communication Skills.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop will take place on May 20th and 21st, 2025, at the University of Reading\u2019s Henley Business School, located at the <a class=\"link-build-content\" href=\"https:\/\/www.henley.ac.uk\/why\/campuses\/greenlands\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>Greenlands campus in Henley-on-Thames, Berkshire.<\/u><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>The workshop aims to:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Build Confidence: \u00a0Learn to recognise and implement strategies that help manage feelings of anxiety, self-doubt, and inadequacy, fostering more authentic communication.<\/li>\n<li>Understand Audiences: \u00a0Gain insights into the characteristics and needs of diverse audiences to develop targeted and effective communication strategies.<\/li>\n<li>Communicate Effectively: \u00a0Adapt complex topics and information to ensure clarity and understanding across various stakeholder groups.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><br \/>\nWorkshop Themes:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Day 1: Breaking Down Communication Barriers<\/li>\n<li>Day 2: Communicating with Different Stakeholders<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Workshop sessions will be conducted by university academics, external speakers, industry professionals, the University of Reading&#8217;s People Development Team, and the Doctoral Researcher College. Sessions will include presenting techniques, understanding imposter syndrome, stakeholder\/audience mapping, developing a comms plan, communicating with industry, and storytelling for researchers.<\/p>\n<p>The event is <strong>free to attend<\/strong> with overnight accommodation and all meals also provided.
