[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]NSPCC<\/strong><\/p>\n

The NSPCC have produced a couple of straightforward pages of advice which although aimed at the parents of LGBTQ+ parents, covering topics such as\u00a0sexuality and sexual orientation<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0gender identity<\/a>. They are written in a way that is accessible for other concerned\/curious parents, without having to visit LGBTQ+ specific organisations\/websites. In addition the NSPCC have a useful section on safeguarding of LGBTQ+ children and young people<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Stonewall<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stonewall is a key organisation campaigning for, and supporting the LGBTQ+ community. Their website is packed full of news, links and information. Their best practice, toolkits and resources<\/a>\u00a0(aimed at teachers) might be useful for interested parents. They have also produced a range of home learning packs<\/a> that parents could use with their children LGBTQ+ or not.<\/p>\n

FFLAG<\/strong><\/p>\n

FFLAG provides a list of books addressing the issue of \u2018difference\u2019<\/a> for parents and teachers. \u201cSome of the stories have the issue of \u2018difference\u2019 as a focus, whilst in others the fact of being in a slightly different family is incidental to the main plot.\u201d\u00a0 <\/em>The main site is full of resources and support for the parents, friends and family of LGBTQ+ children, but would contain useful information for all parents and teachers.<\/p>\n

The National Education Union (NEU)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The NEU has a number of resources for challenging gender stereotypes<\/a> in schools.<\/p>\n

Mermaids UK<\/strong><\/p>\n

Their resources for the parents of trans children<\/a> may answer many of the questions other parents might have.<\/p>\n

Diversity Mel<\/strong><\/p>\n

Printable resources for parents and teachers about how to talk about LGBT+ equality with young people<\/a> that would be helpful for parents to answer their children\u2019s questions.<\/p>\n

Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues<\/strong><\/p>\n

A Do\u2019s and Don\u2019ts guide<\/a> to being respectful and inclusive of LGBTQ+ community members.<\/p>\n

Finding Your True Voice: A Guide to Gender-Affirming Verbal Communication<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is a resource<\/a> for those looking to align their voice with their gender identity and provides advice on this can be achieved.<\/p>\n

Supporting the Transgender Community: Gender Affirming Care Resources<\/strong><\/p>\n

These resources<\/a> is from an American website that provides links to articles about the value of gender-affirming care for trans and non-binary individuals.<\/p>\n

Diversity Role Models <\/strong><\/p>\n

This is an organisation that seeks to embed inclusion and empathy to make safe spaces for all young people to feel accepted. They have a series of short animations<\/a>\u00a0that can be used with primary school children.<\/p>\n
