They are listed below, in alphabetical order, followed by our PDRAs and PhD students.<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/meteorology\/people\/richard-allan\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-534\" src=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/met-aerosols\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/52\/2024\/04\/RichAllan.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"140\" height=\"140\" \/><\/a><\/h3>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/meteorology\/people\/richard-allan\/\">Professor Richard Allan<\/a><\/h3>\n<h4>Professor in Climate Science<\/h4>\n<p>I use Earth Observation data to explore fluctuations in clouds, water vapour, rainfall and the Earth&#8217;s radiative energy balance and use this information to assess the realism of climate prediction models and improve our understanding of the climate system. I was a lead author for the recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 6th assessment report and am affiliated with the National Centre for Earth Observation.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-381 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/met-aerosols\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/52\/Unorganized\/nicolas_bellouin2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"120\" height=\"181\" \/><\/h2>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/meteorology\/people\/nicolas-bellouin\/\">Professor Nicolas Bellouin <\/a><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\">Professor in Climate Processes<\/h3>\n<p>I study interactions between atmospheric aerosols and radiation, clouds, chemistry and vegetation, with a recent focus on aviation. The aim of my research is to better estimate the aerosol radiative forcing of climate change from satellite observations, re-analyses, and global Earth system modelling. I have worked for many years in the general areas of the \u00a0Earth&#8217;s (changing) radiation budget. Currently my focus is on (i) radiative forcing of climate change, particularly due to greenhouse gases and (ii) the radiative impact of water vapour and its continuum.<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/meteorology\/people\/james-weber\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-525\" src=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/met-aerosols\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/52\/2024\/04\/JamesWeber-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/h3>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/meteorology\/people\/james-weber\/\">Dr James Weber<\/a><\/h3>\n<h4>Lecturer in Atmospheric Radiation, Composition and Climate<\/h4>\n<p>Dr Weber\u2019s research interests lie in the interactions between atmospheric composition and climate with a focus on climate change mitigation strategies including wide scale reforestation and methane reductions. Dr Weber contributes to the scientific development of the United Kingdom Earth System Model (UKESM) and uses it to perform experiments to examine how changes to atmospheric composition (chemistry and aerosols) will affect climate and, in turn, may be affected by climate.
