It is led by colleagues at DLR, with partners at MMU, TU Delft, TU Hamburg and ENVISA.<\/p>\n<p>The project aims to evaluate the potential to reduce the environmental (climate, noise and air quality) impact of flights over Europe through an environmental-based optimisation of aircraft routes. This project follows from the REACT4C project (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.react4c.eu\">www.react4c.eu<\/a>) which successfully demonstrated that there was potential to reduce the overall climate impact of trans-Atlantic flights by taking the climate impact of the aircraft into consideration in the routing.\u00a0 Our contribution to the project is to analyse the relationship between the climate impact of contrails and the weather situation in which they form.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr Emma Irvine (PDRA), Professor Keith Shine (PI) This is an EU project funded under the Single European Sky Air Traffic Management Research (SESAR) program.
