Work experience programme

Together with the Met Office, we have developed a four day work experience programme to provide an experience of some tasks undertaken when working and studying in Meteorology.
The programme covers a variety of activities, including:
- Forecasting with the Met Office
- Learning to use meteorological equipment in the field and the observatory
- Weather balloon launch
- Atmospheric Observatory Tour
- Climate research and experiments
- Weather data analysis
- Shipping forecast
- Department weekly weather and climate discussion
- Space and Weather talk
Details:
Duration: 4 days non-residential work experience programme (9am – 4/5pm).
Suitable for: KS4/ KS5 students studying science, physics and maths, considering a physics/maths related course at University.
Dates: 19-22 February 2019 (half-term in most areas). Rough times will be 9-4pm per day – children are responsibility of parents outside these times. The course is non-residential, local accommodation can be arranged by yourself, but in most cases persons under the age of 18 years old are to be accompanied by an adult in the accommodation.
Information: This programme is free of charge and limited to 40 places. Early applications are recommended.
