{"id":3417,"date":"2018-10-11T14:19:37","date_gmt":"2018-10-11T13:19:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/meteorology\/?page_id=3417"},"modified":"2018-10-15T10:10:04","modified_gmt":"2018-10-15T09:10:04","slug":"rrdp-courses","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/meteorology\/intranet\/for-students\/phd-information-hub\/rrdp-courses\/","title":{"rendered":"RRDP Courses"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/meteorology\/intranet\/for-students\/phd-information-hub\/\"><strong>Back to PhD Hub<\/strong><\/a><\/h2>\n<h3 id=\"What-is-the-RRDP-\">WHAT IS THE RRDP?<\/h3>\n<p>The RRDP comprises a wide range of sessions, workshops and\u00a0activities that address your needs in the following areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>knowledge and intellectual abilities<\/li>\n<li>personal effectiveness<\/li>\n<li>research governance and organisation<\/li>\n<li>engagement, influence and impact.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These areas are based on the Researcher Development Framework (RDF), a nationally endorsed tool created by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vitae.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vitae<\/a>\u00a0(a UK organisation that supports the professional development of researchers).<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"How-the-RRDP-works\">HOW THE RRDP WORKS<\/h3>\n<p>The RRDP is a compulsory part of your doctoral research programme. It is also highly reccommended that you complete the\u00a0<strong>Preparing to Teach<\/strong>\u00a0series which count for RRDP, particularly if you intend to demonstrate at some point in your PhD.<\/p>\n<p>Find out more <a href=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/meteorology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/People\/students\/PhD\/Which-RRDPs-Should-I-do.pdf\">here<\/a>. However, note that RRDPs are commonly updated with student feedback and sometimes hosted by different people each time they are offered &#8211; so use this as a guide only.<\/p>\n<p>Attending the\u00a0<strong>Doctoral Research Conference<\/strong> and the\u00a0<strong>Fairbrother Lecture<\/strong> count as one RRDP each. They might be a bit better if you&#8217;ve done all the regularly scheduled RRDPs that pique your interest.<\/p>\n<p>Check the length of the RRDPs, regardless of how long it lasts, it is only worth one RRDP.
