SISAL (Speleothem Isotope Synthesis and Analysis) is an international working group of the Past Global Changes (PAGES) project. The working group aims to provide a comprehensive compilation of speleothem isotope records for climate reconstruction and model evaluation. Version 2 of the SISAL database contains oxygen and carbon isotope measurements from 691 speleothem records from 294 cave systems worldwide, as well as metadata describing their cave settings and age-depth models. To improve the usefulness of the SISAL database, version 2 has an improved spatio-temporal coverage and contains new chronologies using seven different approaches for age\u2013depth modelling. These alternative chronologies were applied to the records from SISALv1 and to new records compiled since its release. Additionally, some metadata has been amended from previous versions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rd_text_center\">In order to assure traceability, any presentation, report, or publication that uses the SISALv2 database should cite Atsawawaranunt et al. (2018) (The SISAL database: a global resource to document oxygen and carbon isotope records from speleothems;<a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.5194\/essd-10-1687-2018\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> https:\/\/doi.org\/10.5194\/essd-10-1687-2018<\/a>) and Comas-Bru et al., 2020 (SISALv2: a comprehensive speleothem isotope database with multiple age\u2013depth models; <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.5194\/essd-12-2579-2020\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/doi.org\/10.5194\/essd-12-2579-2020<\/a>) . If using individual sites or speleothems, the literature citations for published work provided in the database should also be cited.
