{"id":539,"date":"2017-12-14T09:59:13","date_gmt":"2017-12-14T09:59:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/politics-and-ir\/?p=539"},"modified":"2022-01-12T14:32:58","modified_gmt":"2022-01-12T14:32:58","slug":"recent-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/politics-and-ir\/recent-projects\/","title":{"rendered":"Recent Projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Recent Projects<\/h2>\n<p>November 2021<\/p>\n<p>Dr Kenton White AFHEA, Lecturer in Strategic Studies and International Relations was invited to speak at the\u00a0Globstate 2021 Conference, hosted by The Doctrine and Training Centre of the Polish Armed Forces, in Bydgoszcz, Poland.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe aim of the 4th Annual International Research Conference GlobState is to enhance discussion on new developments in the security environment in the (post) pandemic world, both from the global and the regional (Central and East European) perspective, and their implications for the conduct of military operations. The conference will be held under the umbrella of the NUP 2X35 campaign of future security environment analysis, led by the Doctrine and Training Centre of the Polish Armed Forces of behalf of the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He discussed the problems NATO has of converting its collective defence strategy into practice.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-275\" src=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/politics-and-ir\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/152\/2020\/12\/45166245-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/politics-and-ir\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/152\/2020\/12\/45166245-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/politics-and-ir\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/152\/2020\/12\/45166245-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/politics-and-ir\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/152\/2020\/12\/45166245-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/politics-and-ir\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/152\/2020\/12\/45166245-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/politics-and-ir\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/152\/2020\/12\/45166245-2048x1365.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/politics-and-ir\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/152\/2020\/12\/45166245-272x182.jpg 272w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>War Games and Military Exercises<\/h3>\n<p>This joint project with NATO and the Norwegian Defence Command and Staff College addresses the political dimensions of high-level command post exercises (sometimes called war games) and military exercises. It explores the difficulties of alliance politics and the political signalling to allies, adversaries and neutrals that form part of such exercises.
