Advancing Research Synthesis in Linguistics (2026-2027)

Advances in research practice are crucial for social science. Linguistics is no exception, and the field has seen considerable change in research practice. At the same time, linguistics faces challenges, such as the reproducibility of study findings, that are also seen across the social sciences. Research syntheses, that systematically quantify the evidence found within a field, are key tools to addressing this problem. However, research syntheses, including systematic review and meta-analysis, are rare in linguistics. It can also be difficult, especially for early career researchers, to keep up to date with advances in research practice in this regard. To address this issue, this project comprises a\u00a0workshop series on research synthesis. We aim to develop the field\u2019s capacity for research synthesis and ensure the next generation of linguistics researchers are equipped with the data science skills required to succeed in their careers.<\/p>\n
