Stage 5 of the Resilience Rucksack Project was piloting the Resilience Rucksack Fairs within the wider community. This stage of the research has allowed for us to collect valuable data measuring the impact of the Resilience Fairs for pupils and teachers alike, through both a 3-stage quantitative evaluation and a qualitative evaluation.

Watch this space to find out more about the outcome of this pilot study!

A day at a Resilience Rucksack Fair

The Resilience Fairs have been a fantastic opportunity to share our project with pupils and hear their valuable feedback.

At each fair pupils are given a choice of three rucksacks to choose from.

Then the pupils visit four different booths in rotation. These booths represent the central themes of this research, the Sleep Booth, Movement Booth, Friendship Booth, and Self-Compassion Booth. At each booth a member of our team gives a short presentation on how the theme impacts resilience and wellbeing, the science behind these, and how the wellbeing tools can be used.

The goal is making this science accessible and engaging and so we have designed specific activities at each booth to invite pupils to familiarise themselves with the wellbeing tools. At each booth pupils can choose to add wellbeing tools into their resilience rucksack. Choice and agency are central to the fairs.

After pupils have visited each booth, they are asked to fill out the second evaluation survey to give their immediate feedback on their experience at the fair. We also ask that pupils complete a final survey 2-4 weeks after they have attended the Resilience Fair.

Please return to our homepage to find out more about the four central themes and each wellbeing tool.
