In June-July 2023, we ran the Resilience Rucksack competition receiving nearly 30 entries, and some wonderfully creative and beautifully designed Resilience Rucksacks. After the judging, the winner and runners-up were chosen, and received their prizes.
The winner of this competition was Nolan Chenchery. This is Nolans description of the rucksack.
This rucksack is a box like shape, with a minimalistic design in order to meet the required need of the A4 ringbinder/folder. It has 2 rucksack handles, to put on the shoulders; One handle at the top to carry normally like a briefcase; A side pocket to place smaller items in, with an additional zipper pocket in front, to store even smaller items.
The rucksack handles have reflective material on them, so that it makes the rucksack safer if getting carried about. Similarly, on both sides, with the water bottle fitting and the side pocket, there is also reflective tape-like material, as can be seen in the picture, to make this design additionally safer. On the opposite side, there is a cylindrical tall pocket to place a water bottle. I have created the water bottle from scratch as a concept, relating to mental health, with a brain- like puzzle theme.
In regards to the materials, I have chosen a dark-teal blue unisex colour leather-like plastic to fit the whole rucksack, with a separate gel-like fitting on the side pocket, slightly translucent. I have also decided that both the rucksack and top handles are also a similar plastic as the main frame of the rucksack. The Main pocket opens with velcro and is attached to the back with the helix attachment as shown in the picture. The side pocket is also attached down with velcro, to make it easy and efficient to open and close.
