This project was funded by the University of Reading’s University’s Research Endowment Trust Fund (RETF) which supports the development of promising and ambitious research ideas and emerging initiatives in the University. The project explores why children who speak English as an Additional Language (EAL) seem to show a smaller disadvantage gap (the difference in attainment between those who are and are not eligible for free school meals) than children who speak only English. Data collection is ongoing and we will post results here once our data have been analysed.
