Dr Mary Lewis (BA Leicester; MSc, PhD Bradford) is an Associate Professor of Bioarchaeology in the Department of Archaeology, University of Reading. Mary specialises in child skeletal pathology and is currently completing her new book ‘Pathological Conditions in non-adult Human Skeletal Remains, to be published by Academic Press. Mary’s other research interests include the use of stable isotope and trace element analysis in reconstructing past migratory patterns in the UK. Mary’s publications include The Bioarchaeology of Children (CUP, 2007). In 2014 Mary completed a Leverhulme funded research project to explore the lives of medieval teenagers in England, and through this research developed new methods that for the first time allow stages of puberty to be established in adolescent skeletons of the past.
