It also applies such technologies and methods to answer interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research questions.<\/p>\n<p>DH makes us think differently about our research and helps us to represent and communicate ideas in new innovative ways.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_29401\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-29401\" style=\"width: 999px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-29401 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/research-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/72\/2024\/04\/18587.jpg\" alt=\"The University of Reading Library\" width=\"999\" height=\"666\" srcset=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/research-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/72\/2024\/04\/18587.jpg 999w, https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/research-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/72\/2024\/04\/18587-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/research-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/72\/2024\/04\/18587-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/research-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/72\/2024\/04\/18587-272x182.jpg 272w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 999px) 100vw, 999px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-29401\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The University of Reading Library, where the Digital Humanities Hub is based.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>The Digital Humanities Community of Practice<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Established in September 2022, the Digital Humanities <a href=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/digitalhumanities\/cop\/\">Community of Practice<\/a> (DH CoP), led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reading.ac.uk\/history\/our-staff\/mara-oliva\">Dr Mara Oliva<\/a>, stands as a beacon of innovation within our University community, driving research excellence, fostering ambition, and nurturing a culture of experimentation and collaboration among all research themes.<\/p>\n<p>Through a diverse range of activities and initiatives, the CoP aims to increase awareness and understanding of DH within the University, while enhancing its national and international profile in the field. It serves as a platform for open dialogue on DH issues, facilitates the exchange of expertise, and provides essential support for both ongoing and prospective projects.<\/p>\n<p>Through networking events, methodological workshops, grant development support, and training sessions (in collaboration with the DH Hub) as well as fostering internal research synergies and cultivating external partnerships, the DH CoP is as a cornerstone for the advancement of digital scholarship and collaborative research at Reading.<\/p>\n<p>The DH CoP works closely with the <a href=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/digitalhumanities\/\">Digital Humanities Hub.<\/a> The Hub, which is based in the Library, provides practical and sustainable support for DH projects. Its cross-service team combines expertise from the Library\u2019s Research Engagement team, University Museums and Collections Services, Digital Technology Services and Research Services with that of academic colleagues, in order to support research that falls within the broad and dynamic discipline of DH.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr Mara Oliva: Championing innovation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As Digital Humanities Academic Champion, Dr <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reading.ac.uk\/history\/our-staff\/mara-oliva\">Mara Oliva<\/a>\u2019s job is to raise awareness and knowledge of Digital Humanities within the University of Reading and enhance the University\u2019s national and international reputation in the DH field through strategic external partnerships. In collaboration with the AI CoP and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.turing.ac.uk\/\">Turing Institute<\/a>, the conference theme aligns with the DH CoP\u2019s mission and invites us to explore the rich intersections between Digital Humanities and Artificial Intelligence.
