The University of Reading\u2019s\u00a0Research Engagement and Impact Awards\u00a02017\u00a0<\/strong>are open to all Reading researchers, with entries open until Friday 5 May.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The awards are intended to recognise and reward those who undertake or support high-quality engagement and impact activities. Entrants can be at any level in their careers, and activities of any scale are welcome.<\/p>\n

Winners will receive a package of communications support – including film, events support and written materials as appropriate – to help progress their projects. In addition the winner of the Embark<\/em> award will receive \u00a31,000 towards their project or for personal development.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Categories<\/h3>\n

Awards will be made, across five categories, for excellent work that aims to:<\/p>\n

Inspire<\/em>:<\/strong>\u00a0for work to engage<\/strong> children and young people<\/strong> with research.<\/p>\n

Inform<\/em>:<\/strong>\u00a0for work to find effective ways of informing the public<\/strong> about research to increase its accessibility, and to listen to their views about research.<\/p>\n

Influence<\/em>:<\/strong>\u00a0for work with policy or professional\/practitioner audiences<\/strong> at local, national or international level to ensure that research influences the way they think about their work.<\/p>\n

Involve<\/em>:<\/strong>\u00a0for work to encourage public participation<\/strong> in research by involving people as researchers (e.g. citizen science) or collaborative research partnerships with external organisations or industry partners, including knowledge exchange.<\/p>\n

Embark<\/em>:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>any engagement work by an early-career researcher<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

How to enter<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Entries can be made by individuals or groups and is by one simple entry form.\u00a0 Download the entry form>>><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Entries must be received by\u00a012.00 noon on Friday 5 May<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Guidelines for applicants are also available and can be\u00a0downloaded here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Up to five winning entries will be invited to showcase their projects and receive recognition for their achievements at the Research Engagement Awards ceremony which will take place on Wednesday 28 June 2017.<\/p>\n

The Awards process will be coordinated by the Research Communications and Engagement team, with the support of colleagues across the University, and overseen by the Deputy Vice Chancellor and Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation, Professor Steve Mithen.<\/p>\n
