This exhibition,\u00a0inspired by the European Research Council funded project\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/locusludi.ch\/\"><strong>Locus Ludi: The Cultural Fabric of Play and Games in Classical Antiquity<\/strong><\/a>, led by Professor V\u00e9ronique Dasen, is an opportunity to explore the rich collections relating to games and play in antiquity that are available not only at the Ure Museum but at other UK museums. We are most grateful to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cimuseums.org.uk\/\"><strong>Colchester and Ipswich Museums<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.readingmuseum.org.uk\/\"><strong>Reading Museum,<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.britishmuseum.org\/\"><strong>The British Museum<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/collections.reading.ac.uk\/special-collections\/\"><strong>University of Reading\u2019s Special Collections<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0for the loan of important artefacts from their collections.<\/p>\n<p>Related activities include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>16 September, 10am\u20134pm:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/collections.reading.ac.uk\/ure-museum\/event\/heritage-open-days-unwrap-ancient-games\/\"><strong>Unwrap ancient games<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritageopendays.org.uk\/about\"><strong>Heritage Open Days<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(fun for the whole family; all welcome but please follow the first link to book)<\/li>\n<li>30 September, 12\u20132pm:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/collections.reading.ac.uk\/ure-museum\/event\/summer-olympots-at-the-ure\/\"><strong>Summer Olympots<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0to celebrate\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingheritage.org.uk\/\"><strong>National Sporting Heritage Day<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(bring the children but again, please book via the first link)<\/li>\n<li>6 October, 5pm:\u00a0<em>More than just fun and games: Why study board games in Roman society?<\/em><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>A lecture from Dr Tim Penn (Oxford).
