Our initiative isn\u2019t just about learning; it\u2019s about sparking a revolution in critical thinking, problem-solving, and a deep-seated commitment to our planet. STEM is not just a set of subjects; it\u2019s the bedrock of environmental sciences. From the intricate formulas of Mathematics to the dynamic principles of Physics and the transformative reactions in Chemistry, these subjects are gateways to understanding and protecting our world. Yet, there\u2019s a gap we cannot ignore. The diversity in environmental sciences doesn\u2019t mirror our society, especially in comparison to other scientific fields. It\u2019s time to change that narrative.\u00a0<strong>Our mission is to inspire and guide more A-level STEM students to step into the exciting world of environmental sciences\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">What to expect<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The summer school is an immersive experience in the heart of environmental science. During the summer school your students will get involved in a variety of hands-on activities to learn about the applications of environmental sciences. These will include weather forecasting, water management, biodiversity research, population modelling and critical thinking to apply what they have learned to real life scenarios. This is where future environmental scientists are born<\/p>\n<p>STEM school is a Year 11 and Year 12 workshop of activities and experience, developed to help you to discover the wide range of subjects within STEM studies and to help you get into university.<\/p>\n<p>You will attend around 2 days workshop at our University of Reading Campus, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Activities<\/li>\n<li>University experience<\/li>\n<li>Influential Key note speakers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;color: #0000ff\"><strong>Applicant information<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>This outreach programme is funded by NERC and aims to support state school students from backgrounds under-represented at university and UoR. We use the criteria below to assess who is eligible to participate.
