An oral history of now

Grounded in the lived experience of people working in the industry now, the project shines a light on opportunities to secure the UK screen industries for the future, for everyone.

The project is carrying out 40 in-depth interviews with professionals in different departments of film and television production, at different grades/organisational levels, and in independent, commercial and broadcast sectors. This includes freelancers who make up a significant part of the workforce.

The interviews will form an ‘oral history of now’ that represents a crucial evidence base of lived experiences in the industry, forming a strong foundation for change creation where it is needed most.

The archive of anonymised testimony will be made available to screen industry researchers, helping to expand UK research expertise in film and television sectors, and the contexts in which they operate.
