Workshop: The Freelancer Experience—Creating Positive Change

Over the course of our project it has become clear that freelancers experience the sharp end of the difficulties that are commonplace in the UK screen industries. In addition to our interviews we wanted to bring together researchers,
advocacy groups, sector organisations and screen professionals to discuss the significant challenges faced by freelancers today in the film and television industries, and the opportunities for positive change. The workshop was made up of panels and discussion groups to examine proposed actions to address this crisis, reflect on existing good practices around recruitment and work cultures, and identify further sustainable interventions to create positive change.
