Experimental Film and Punk: Feminist Audio Visual Culture of the 1970s and 1980s<\/em>, a new book by artist\u00a0Professor Rachel Garfield<\/strong>, aims to analyze and situate the aesthetic and intellectual ambition of a range of women filmmakers operating during the 1970s and 1980s through the lens and legacy of punk. In Garfield\u2019s writing she traces the emergence of a female subjectivity as a vital and valid form of practice and explores specific filmmaking approaches such as DIY, disintegration and hysteria.<\/p>\n

This live music and film event includes screenings of works featured in the book by\u00a0Vivienne Dick<\/strong>,\u00a0Abigail Child<\/strong>,\u00a0Betzy Bromberg<\/strong>,\u00a0Tessa Hughes Freeland<\/strong>,\u00a0Ruth Novaczek<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Sandra Lahire\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Anne Robinson<\/strong>\u00a0with live performances from bands\u00a0Shade Ray<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Es<\/strong>\u00a0and a DJ set from\u00a0Gabi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
