Arriving by Plane

Since 2021, Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport replaced Qingdao Liuting International Airport and became the main international gateway of Qingdao. Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport is located 11 kilometres from Jiaozhou and 39 kilometres from Qingdao. You can get to Qingdao downtown within 45 minutes by taxi, or take Metro Line 8 to the city centre and other locations. At Qingdao Airport there are also five shuttle bus routes to several destinations within the city and other routes to nearby locations.

Arriving by Train

Qingdao has a great high-speed rail service to other Chinese cities. The fare from Beijing is around ¥350 and Shanghai is ¥550.

Arriving by Car

Qingdao is well served by excellent modern highways, with the G20/G25 taking you north to Beijing and the G15 running south along the coast to Shanghai.

We recommend the Blue Horizon Hotel, which is the same venue as the conference dinner, and within a 5-minute car drive to FIO.

Other nearby options are Himalayas Hotel Qingdao, which is a 5-minute car ride to the venue, and Hyatt Regency Qingdao, which is a 10-minute car ride.

Update: Hotel Shuttle

As the conference will be held at the Blue Horizon Hotel, where most participants have chosen to stay for their accommodation, there will no longer be a shuttle bus provided for the daily commute.

Public Transportation

Qingdao has a modern metro network and good local buses. Fares are from ¥1.

Taxi

Taxis are plentiful most of the year but can be scarcer in peak summer months. Flagfall is normally ¥10 and then you will pay around ¥4 per mile.

Car

Qingdao is a large city and traffic can be heavy during morning and evening rush hours. Car rental is from around ¥140 per day.

We will be using WeChat for local logistical communication. Please join the group before 23 October.
