{"id":815,"date":"2024-08-12T10:05:35","date_gmt":"2024-08-12T09:05:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/synthetic-media-research-network\/?page_id=815"},"modified":"2024-08-12T10:12:07","modified_gmt":"2024-08-12T09:12:07","slug":"roundtable-meeting-on-copyright-and-ai-training-data","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/synthetic-media-research-network\/our-research\/roundtable-meeting-on-copyright-and-ai-training-data\/","title":{"rendered":"Roundtable meeting on Copyright and AI Training Data"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The SMRN hosted a roundtable meeting of UK organisations impacted by the scraping of creative artists&#8217; data from the internet by AI developers, as well as a group of ethical AI companies committed\u00a0to a responsible AI business model that respects the copyright of writers, artists, publishers, filmmakers, musicians and composers.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting on 9<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0July 2024 included representatives of 125,000 authors, 8,000 directors, 37,000 songwriters and music publishers, 50,000 actors, as well as businesses responsible for marketing\u00a0the creative output of 340,000 image makers, and 55,000 amateur filmers.
