[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]We have co-produced a series of participatory films with transnational families and community researchers in France, Sweden, the UK and Spain to inform members of the public, policymakers and practitioners about the lived realities of caring across borders for transnational family members.<\/p>\n

A series of short films from the UK team highlight key messages for policymakers and practitioners from the Transnational Families in Europe: Care, Inequalities and Wellbeing research project. This documentary is based on ethnographic research about intergenerational support within a Colombian family shaped by migration for over two decades.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]Around the Tanur (trailer, 2023) <\/em><\/strong>produced by Assaf Dahdah (CR CNRS en g\u00e9ographie (UMR ART-Dev), Ga\u00ebl Marsaud and Burhan Roto: <\/em>Build a\u00a0tanur, make the bread. Settle in and start living. Coming from overseas, talking about the past. The Spain team produced two documentaries which feature contributions from community researchers and transnational families who participated in the fieldwork conducted in Spain.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]The film CareWell: Immigration and Transnational Care<\/strong> provides valuable insights into the health, economic, social, and emotional impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on transnational families, highlighting their care and mobility strategies.[\/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https:\/\/youtu.be\/jdueG5pm6nI?si=8HP624D7uqv8PCYv”][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]The film, CareWell: Reflections on the PhotoVoice method in Spain<\/strong> reflects on the PhotoVoice method used by the Spain team and community researchers with transnational family members across different countries in Africa and Latin America.[\/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https:\/\/youtu.be\/7r8lclKa8K4?si=ITdyypJjPOZqQUuG”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Sweden<\/strong><\/p>\n

Brigitte Suter and Katarina Mozeti\u010d, Malm\u00f6 University, Sweden, together with project partner, the Swedish Church (Lund Diocese) and the peer researchers, has produced three short movies documenting some of the issues transnational families face in Sweden, based on research with families.\u00a0 Each depicts the story of a transnational family with specific caring arrangements, addressing various aspects of their realities.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_column_text]\u2018Together in difficult times\u2019 reflects on the role of the peer researcher and discusses the importance of proximate family relations for those with care needs and responsibilities.[\/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https:\/\/youtu.be\/QVHg64QSMy8?si=vEOhR5xaSnGl5YtC”][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_column_text]\u2018A patient is a patient\u2019 follows the story of a family with irregular legal status in Sweden where a brother takes care of his sister with physical and mental impairments and his aging, ill mother.[\/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https:\/\/youtu.be\/ZBUyV–9d_E?si=hTjBDeUIIRa-8XYG”][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_column_text]\u2018Caring across distance\u2019 delves into how family members provide care for one another across borders.<\/p>\n
