This Policy Brief<\/a> presents an overview of the situation of the immigrant population in
\nSpain during Covid-19 Pandemic, as well as the political measures taken at different
\ngovernance levels in order to address it. Analysis of data from the Spanish Institute of Statistics shows the Covid-19 Pandemic severely affected the physical and mental health, as well as the economic situation of immigrants living in Spain. The policy of protection based on “regular work” adopted by the Spanish government left many immigrants, especially the most vulnerable, unprotected.<\/p>\n

This Policy Brief was produced by Dr. Raquel Mart\u00ednez Buj\u00e1n and ESOMI (Research Team on Societies in Movement), University of A Coru\u00f1a (UDC) as part of the research project, Care, Inequality and Wellbeing in Transnational Families in Europe: a comparative, intergenerational study in Spain, France, Sweden and UK<\/em>, led by Professor Ruth Evans, University of Reading and Dr. Rosa Mas Giralt, University of Leeds, UK.<\/p>\n

Este Policy Brief<\/a> muestra una panor\u00e1mica general de la situaci\u00f3n de la poblaci\u00f3n inmigrante en Espa\u00f1a durante la Pandemia Covid-19 y de las medidas pol\u00edticas adoptadas en diferentes niveles administrativos para hacer frente a esta crisis. El an\u00e1lisis de datos procedentes del Instituto Nacional de Estad\u00edstica se\u00f1ala c\u00f3mo la Pandemia Covid-19 afect\u00f3 gravemente, tanto a la situaci\u00f3n econ\u00f3mica de los inmigrantes, como a su salud f\u00edsica y mental. Las pol\u00edticas de protecci\u00f3n social atendieron especialmente a las personas <\/span>con trabajos regulares dentro de la econom\u00eda formal dejando a muchos inmigrantes en <\/span>situaci\u00f3n de desprotecci\u00f3n social, especialmente a los m\u00e1s vulnerables.<\/span><\/p>\n
