{"id":563,"date":"2024-10-07T17:24:47","date_gmt":"2024-10-07T16:24:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/uor-nhm-partnership\/?p=563"},"modified":"2025-05-23T13:57:20","modified_gmt":"2025-05-23T12:57:20","slug":"evolution-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/uor-nhm-partnership\/evolution-day\/","title":{"rendered":"UoR-NHM Evolution Day March 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong><span class=\"TextRun SCXW139165199 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"letter-spacing: 0.08px\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW139165199 BCX8\">University of Reading and\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW139165199 BCX8\">NHM<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW139165199 BCX8\"> Evolution Day<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Supported by Partnership Seed-Funding, the<span class=\"TextRun SCXW132680757 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW132680757 BCX8\">\u00a0aim of the day was to bring together scientists from the NHM and <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW132680757 BCX8\">UoR<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW132680757 BCX8\"> to learn more about our shared interests and <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW132680757 BCX8\">expertise<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW132680757 BCX8\"> in the evolution of life. The event was attended by around 50 scientists from both institutions, with talks on diverse topics ranging from people and plants to the evolution of fossil mammals. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW132680757 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW132680757 BCX8\">The talks were followed by a networking lunch and informal discussions in the afternoon, including breakout groups covering \u2018collections and facilities\u2019 and \u2018funding and <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun ContextualSpellingAndGrammarErrorV2Themed SCXW132680757 BCX8\">collaborations\u2019<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW132680757 BCX8\">. Discussions are ongoing between colleagues and hope to<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW132680757 BCX8\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW132680757 BCX8\">initiate<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW132680757 BCX8\"> new collaborative projects between the two institutions.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"EOP SCXW132680757 BCX8\" data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A second Evolution Day to further collaborative discussions was held in February 2025.<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/uor-nhm-partnership\/research\/internal-funding\/\">Seed-Funding<\/a> is available to support the development of collaborative projects to be undertaken <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">by researchers at the University of Reading and the\u202fNatural History\u202fMuseum.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A day of presentations and discussions on evolution for University of Reading and Natural History Museum staff supported by Partnership Seed-Funding<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":901,"featured_media":564,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"__cvm_playback_settings":[],"__cvm_video_id":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[16,20],"tags":[],"coauthors":[15],"class_list":["post-563","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-events","category-science"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.8.1 -
