Fritz Max Steletzer led the Type Drawing Office of Monotype in Salfords from its inception in the early 1900s until his retirement in 1940. This is an extract from one of his notebooks, which are kept in the Monotype archives:<\/p>\n

\u201cOctober 1. 1909 to September 30th 1910
\nDuring the year a room has been specially fitted as a Type Drawing Office with specially designed drawing boards & accessories, which we first occupied in May.
\nThere has been no increased in the staff which still numbers 4, namely:
