Introduction

A Room of Our Own: The Virginia Woolf Learning Journals, published in June 2020, is the latest staff-student collaborative book produced at the University of Reading. It joins Second Sight: The Margaret Atwood Learning Journals (University of Reading, 2018), and Celebrating 100 Years of Women’s Voices (University of Reading, 2020).

A Room of One’s Own presents final year students' 500-word reflections on the work of Virginia Woolf. Using a variety of forms, the students respond personally, creatively and critically to Woolf’s ideas to form a unique collection which provides fresh contemporary viewpoints. The pieces are sometimes playful, often witty, and consistently moving, and artwork created specifically for this project responds to Woolf’s writing in alternative forms.

This site provides information about the project and tells the story of the creation of the book.
