What this project meant to me
Libby Bushill: student co-editor (Department of English Literature)
Working on A Room of Our Own has enhanced my student experience this year, making me feel closer to my department and changing the way I view assessed work. It’s been great to know that I was working on something alongside my degree that could help me find my way into a career after university. Working with a team of women who are all focused on a common goal has been rewarding, inspiring and just plain fun! Hearing everyone’s brilliant ideas and seeing each of our influences come to life in the book has made this feel like a real team project. We were trusted fully with the tasks we were given and I felt that my ideas were always heard, which has done wonders for my confidence in my own abilities and creativity. Seeing this book go from concept to finished product has only affirmed how much I want to go into publishing in the future, and has made me feel like I could really get there. I will always be grateful for the opportunity to have been involved in A Room of Our Own – it’s a really special book that I am incredibly proud to have worked on and that will always sit in pride of place on my shelves.
