June has been an exciting month for BEL, with two of our lab group winning awards for their research. It is excellent to have the work we do recognised by the University!
On the 13th June, the School of Biological Sciences held their annual symposium, where all PhD students present posters or talks to the staff and students. This is a school wide event, run in conference style, with parallel streams and back-to-back science, with an awards ceremony at the end of the day. BEL is delighted to announce that our very own Harry Eberle was awarded the School of Biological Science “PhD Researcher of the Year” award for his research and outreach activities. On the 20th June, the University’s Doctoral Research Conference took place in the Palmer building. All PhD students at the University are eligible to enter research competitions by submitting posters, research images, lift in science photos or entering the 3MinuteThesis competition. We are excited to announce that Orla Fannon was awarded the award for Best Image, scooping both the Judges Award and the Peoples Choice Award, for her image ‘Neural Networks in a Dish’.
