I am very excited to have been part of this project which has utilised an innovative method to estimate sex in archaeological individuals by extracting peptides from teeth.

This is particularly exciting for fetal-infant research as this paper has proved that not only do the methods work on adults, but non-adults too, including very young fetal-infant individuals.

Being able to accurately sex non-adult individuals has been something bioarchaeologists have long been pondering and to date, has been a very problematic and inaccurate science. Thus, to be able to do this for any individual (who has at least one tooth present) is fantastic!
