Congratulations to Okiemua Okoror, who has been awarded the Professor Robert D Pearce Prize for the 2025-26 academic year.
The prize recognizes outstanding doctoral research at Henley Business School and the University of Reading. Okiemua’s thesis, Impacts of Weather Shocks on Consumption Expenditure, Child Labour, and Child Health Outcomes: Evidence from Nigerian Households, was selected by the prize committee, who praised it as a solid and well-developed piece of work. The thesis was supervised by Dr Samantha Rawlings and Prof Stefania Lovo.
On receiving the award, Okiemua said:
“I am deeply honoured to receive the Professor Robert D. Pearce prize. This recognition is both affirming and motivating, encouraging me to continue striving for excellence in my work, and to further advance my research contributions to societal impact in low- and middle-income countries, as well as to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). I am sincerely grateful to the donor for supporting this prize and for contributing to the development and recognition of high-quality research at the University of Reading. I would also like to thank my supervisors, Dr Samantha Rawlings and Dr Stefania Lovo, for their guidance and support. I could not have achieved this without the grace and guidance of my creator, God. I give thanks to my Lord Jesus Christ for this achievement.”
