We are excited to announce that on the 1st of December, Division member Stefania Lovo will speak at The African Union Agenda 2063.
The African Union Agenda 2063 aims to transform African economies by increasing intra-continental trade and investment. As African countries seek to rebuild their economies after the damage caused by COVID19, the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) constitutes the most important instrument to achieve those goals.
The AfCFTA is predicted to bring vast economic benefits to the continent, however, the strengthening of intra-African value chains, increased economic growth, and enhanced human development gains are not the only effects that will define its success. In an era marked by rapidly advancing environmental degradation and climate change, the AfCFTA must serve as a lever for sustainable growth.
During this event, speakers will explore how the AfCFTA can be utilized as a lever for green trade, focusing on the strategic implementation of AfCFTA Protocols, and on ongoing negotiations that can be aligned with developing a green economy (incl. enhancing Biotrade for small businesses).
This event will be streamed online on Trade and Sustainability Hub (TSH) platform, hosted by the International Institute for Sustainable Development. If you would like to join us, please register for the TSH here. You will then receive your log in details. On 01 December, please log in and find us using the details received by email.
