Olivia Jiyeon Jang
Olivia Jiyeon Jang is a third-year PhD student in School of Biological Sciences at University of Reading. Prior to joining the team, she received BSc in food science and nutrition at Coventry University in 2018 and MRes in clinical research at Imperial College London in 2019. Specialising in human nutrition during Master’s degree, she worked on a project investigating the impact of weight-loss diets on the gut microbiota in healthy overweight and obese individuals, where she obtained fundamental knowledge on the human gut microbiome and gut microbial profiling via next-generation sequencing.
Her current project mainly focuses on the effect of dietary iron and lactoferrin on the infant/adult gut microbiota by using in vitro gut fermentation models.
