Photograph of Claire Costin. Claire is a white female with brown eyes and dark brown hair. She is wearing a padded navy coat with a furry white hood and two furry pom poms and a silver sparkly scarf. She looks unamused at being captured in a photograph!

Resources Manager, Portable Antiquities Scheme
British Museum

Project role

My role in the MeRit project is to provide outreach programme support and look after the website.

Background

I trained in Restoration & Conservation before realising I wanted to understand more about the humans producing the objects & studied BA Medieval Archaeology. I later did a Public Archaeology MA to help me develop my current work role, which greatly enhanced my work & wider knowledge of archaeology and also sparked an interest in prehistory.

Since graduating in Medieval Archaeology I have worked in several posts in archaeological & cultural sector education (working on vocational qualification and National Occupational Standard development), including resources and grant management. I joined the Portable Antiquities Scheme Central Unit in March 2003.

As PAS Resources Manager, I provide support and guidance to staff, partners, volunteers (including self-recorders) and the public on anything they need help with. I also developed and looked after the PAS PASt Explorers project to expand and support the PAS volunteer base and outreach programme.
