Research Interests
- Effects of short-lived climate pollutants on climate – particularly aerosols, methane and hydrogen
- Modelling techniques for quantifying effective radiative forcing and radiative adjustments from climate forcing agents
Research Projects
HECTER (2024-Present) – I am a post-doc working on investigating the effects of hydrogen emissions on climate. My work involves using the FaIR climate model emulator and UK Earth System Model to understand the effects of hydrogen emissions under different scenarios and assumptions about how climate responds. This work is part of the NERC/DESNZ funded project Hydrogen Emissions: Constraining The Earth system Response (HECTER), working with Bill Collins and Keith Shine at University of Reading.
PhD (2019-2024) – My PhD research has focused on developing techniques to help quantify and understand the climate effects of anthropogenic aerosol emissions in climate models. I used the UK Earth System Model and its radiative code (SOCRATES) with application of nudging and other tools to investigate the radiative adjustments due to sulphate and black carbon aerosols. This work was supervised by Bill Collins, Keith Shine, Nicolas Bellouin at University of Reading and Fiona O’Connor from the Met Office and funded by NERC and the Met Office.
