Research Projects:

  • National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO) : A national programme to study, develop and promote remotely sensed data in the monitoring and study of the Earth system (NERC funded).
  • Diabatic DIAbatic influences on Mesoscale structures in ExTratropical storms (DIAMET) : A project to improve the understanding and prediction of mesoscale structures in synoptic-scale storms (NERC funded).
  • Flooding From Intense Rainfall (FFIR) : A project to improve the capability to forecast extreme flooding events, including developments in convective-scale data assimilation.
  • Advanced data assimilation : A project to use convective-scale ensembles to understand the role of model error variability on the forecast errors (ESA funded).
