The University of Reading Centenary means that the annual Community Festival will be even bigger this year, and we will once again be joined by colleagues from NHM to help us celebrate.
Colleagues from the NHM National Programmes will be on Whiteknights Campus on Saturday 16 May in the Green Zone. Discover the wonder of nature in our local parks and outdoor spaces, and learn about the Museum’s latest research into biodiversity and conservation. Explore simple, practical actions you can take to help nature thrive in your own community.
Through a range of fun, self-led activities, families can connect with wildlife on campus in new and creative ways. Hunt for mini-beasts in the meadow and try drawing what you discover, build a DNA strand out of LEGO® bricks, and design imaginative LEGO creations inspired by ways to protect local wildlife and habitats.
Come prepared to get up close with nature!
NHM Unlocked Workshop:
Help us create a new public artwork for your local area. The NHM is developing an ambitious outdoor artwork for its new building in Shinfield. To inform the work, arts organisation Create London and artist Emma Edmondson invite you to take part in this drop-in, hands-on workshop.
Share your experiences of nature locally, get creative with collaging and drawing, and have fun creating 3D models using clay and natural materials.
