On 30th of July 2026, the Applied Health Research Group at the University of Reading’s Reading School of Pharmacy celebrated the graduation of two PhD researchers, Dr Ravina Barrett and Dr Mohamed Obiedalla.

Dr Ravina Barrett completed her PhD in Pharmacy by Published Works, a distinctive doctoral pathway requiring the submission and synthesis of a body of published research. Her PhD explored access to essential medicines in England during the COVID-19 pandemic and was supervised by Amelia Hollywood and Sam Bizley. Following the completion of her PhD, Ravina has taken up a new role with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

Dr Mohamed Obiedalla completed his PhD in Pharmacy, which examined medicine shortages within the UK community pharmacy setting. His research was supervised by Amelia Hollywood and Nilesh Patel. Mohamed undertook his doctoral research alongside his work as a pharmacist, including during the COVID-19 pandemic, and has since moved on to a new opportunity with Pharmulous.

The graduations mark an important milestone in both researchers’ academic and professional journeys. The Applied Health Research Group congratulates Dr Ravina Barrett and Dr Mohamed Obiedalla on their achievements and wishes them continued success in their future careers.
